Clinic Operating Costs

The School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County are dependent on individual and corporate donations and grants to carry out its mission of keeping kids healthy and in school. Contributions may be general or may be specific to one or more of the School Health Clinics sites.

The following are examples of what contributions can help to achieve:

  • $300 Covers the cost of primary health care costs for one child for the school year.
  • $6,500 Pays for a Medical Assistant 1 day a week during the school year.
  • $13,000 Pays for a Medical Assistant 2 days a week at an elementary school clinic during the school year. The Medical Assistant provides vital staff support to the Nurse Practitioner and screens patients for medical need.
  • $15,000 Provides medications for 8,000 patient visits for treating minor illnesses and injuries.
  • $19,800 Covers the cost of care for 200 visits for children with no insurance including homeless, foster care and disabled children.
  • $25,000 Underwrites the net cost of operating a high school health clinic 1 day a week during the school year.
  • $30,000 Pays the primary health care costs for 100 children for the school year.
  • $60,000 Pays the primary health care costs for 200 children for the school year.
  • $50,000 Underwrites the net cost of operating an elementary school clinic for 2 days a week (7 hours per day) during the school year.
  • $75,000 Pays the salaries, supplies, medications, and other costs to operate 3 days a week at a high school health clinic during the school year.
  • $100,000 Underwrites the cost of operating a high school health clinic 4 days a week during the school year.
