San Jose , CA - School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County today announced that it has received a grant of $7,500 from the Cisco Systems Foundation's San Jose Impact Grants Program. The funds will help provide medical care to over 1,000 low-income children and adolescents utilizing the Franklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health Clinic in East San Jose .

"We greatly appreciate the continued support of the Cisco Systems Foundation," says Sue Lapp, executive director for School Health Clinics. "These funds help us succeed in our mission of providing vital medical services to low-income and uninsured children in our community. As many of our patients are not in the position to pay for the medical care they receive, financial support from an organization such as the Cisco Systems Foundation is critical to the well being of this community."

Services provided at the Franklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health Clinic include immunizations, physical examinations, treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, diagnostic laboratory tests, dental screenings, prescriptions, health education, and on-site enrollment in low-cost affordable health insurance. A Physician Assistant, along with a bilingual medical assistant, staff the clinic Monday through Friday under the supervision of a physician medical director.

Situated in the district office for the Franklin-McKinley School District on Wool Creek Road , the clinic serves children from the community up through age 18. For families who have little or no access to health care, or health insurance, the clinic is a valuable community resource and ensures that children of all ages receive the medical treatment they deserve.
