School Health Clinics of Santa Clara CountyReceives Grant forFranklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health ClinicSan Jose , CA - School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County announced today that it has received a grant of $15,000 from The Cisco Systems Foundation to support health care for low-income children and adolescents at the Franklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health Clinic. Located in east San Jose , the Clinic provides preventive and primary medical care to approximately 1,000 children in the community each year. Support from The Cisco Systems Foundation will provide a source of much needed health care for families with few or no other options. In addition to providing medical services such as childhood immunizations, physical examinations, dental screenings, treatment for illness and injuries, eye exams, mental health counseling, and health education, clinic staff assist families with enrolling in low-cost health insurance programs such as Healthy Kids and Healthy Families. By providing a medical home for the community's most vulnerable population, School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County, with support from The Cisco Systems Foundation, keeps kids healthy and in school. "We are extremely grateful to The Cisco Systems Foundation for their continued support of health care for children. By providing funding for the Franklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health Clinic, the Foundation is helping to assure that children in the Franklin-McKinley School District receive the medical care they deserve in a convenient and easily accessible location," says Sue Lapp, chief executive officer for School Health Clinics. With funding provided from The Cisco Systems Foundation, the Franklin-McKinley Neighborhood Health Clinic will continue to operate Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm., providing health care to children from infants up to age 18. Through timely intervention and medical treatment, the clinic reduces suffering due to untreated conditions, and prevents costly visits to emergency rooms.
