Healthy Fun for the Whole Family!Gilroy , CA – School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County invites the community to attend an Open House for its newest clinic located at South Valley Jr. High School ( 385 IOOF Avenue ). The Open House will take place on Thursday, October 14 th from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. Previously located at Eliot Elementary School , the clinic began operating in its newly remodeled facility in July of this year. Drop by during the Open House and discover how the Gilroy Neighborhood Health Clinic keeps South County children healthy and in school. The Gilroy Neighborhood Health Clinic serves children from the community up through age 18. For families who have little or no access to health care, or health insurance, the clinic is a valuable community resource and ensures that children of all ages receive the medical treatment they deserve. Services at the clinic include urgent care, treatment for illness and injuries, physical exams, immunizations, dental screenings, prescriptions, mental health support and referrals, confidential reproductive health care, and on-site enrollment in low-cost affordable health insurance. In honor of the upcoming Halloween holiday, the clinic and many other partnering agencies will promote safe and healthy trick-or-treating. Balloons and prizes will be available for children and Simon Salinas, Assemblyman for the 28 th district, along with Edwin Diaz, superintendent for Gilroy Unified School District , will be on hand to show their support of school based health centers. School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County is fortunate to work closely with the Gilroy Unified School District and, according to Eileen Obata, District Nurse in Gilroy, “Patients currently using the clinic as their primary care provider have high praise for the friendly appropriate staff, the short wait for appointments and the amount of time health care providers spend with them.” The Gilroy Neighborhood Clinic also partners with many other South County organizations throughout the year to ensure parents are aware of medical services available right in their own community – often within walking distance of their home. To help School Health Clinics celebrate the opening of the Gilroy clinic, the following organizations will be on hand to talk with parents about related services available in Gilroy: Gilroy Police Department, The Health Trust (providing on-site dental screenings for children), RotaCare (low-cost medical care for adults), First Five Pre-School, Family Health Insurance, and Resources for Families and Communities.
