Volunteer/Intern at SHC

School Health Clinics will not be such a success without the support of the community. When you donate your time, you are making a significant difference in the lives of our patients.
How to Become a Volunteer/Intern at SHC
  1. Apply – complete an online application (Volunteer/Intern Application Form)
  2. Submit Resume to [email protected]
  3. Interview – after your application and resume are received, you’ll be contacted.
  4. Background Check – accepted applicants will complete a Live Scan background check.
  5. Onboarding – After the background check, the applicant will complete an onboarding training that covers HIPAA, safety and compliance requirements, infection control protocols, and more.
  6. First Volunteer/Internship Shift – you’ll be scheduled for your first shift, which will focus on training for your specific service area.

Where Can You Volunteer

  1. Specialty Referral Coordination: Support the referral coordinators by calling patients to inform them of their referral status, helping patients schedule their specialty appointments, and securing transportation, etc.

  2. Enrollment and Outreach Program: Help the enrollment specialists with various community events

  3. Enhanced Care Management program: Conduct outreach to our eligible patients to inform them about the program.

  4. Housing Navigation program: Support the housing navigators with housing search and other housing resources.

  5. Community Health Worker program: Support the CHW with community resources and resource search, such as food banks, rent, and utility support.

  6. Quality Improvement & Population Health: Support the team with data collection, outreach tracking, and quality projects. Volunteers may assist with chart reviews, care gap monitoring, and creating materials for community events or patient education related to key health measures (e.g., well-child visits, blood pressure, diabetes).
